Body found of 7 year old

The death of missing seven-year-old Conley Thompson, whose body has been found on a building site, is believed to have been accidental.

Conley vanished after playing with friends in Locke Park, a mile away from the site and about two miles away from his home in Barnsley, South Yorkshire.

Police said Conley had gone to play at about 6pm on Sunday and was due to return home around two hours later, but never turned up.

Please tell me it's just me but it sounds very much like a 7 year old little boy was expected to walk 2 miles home alone at 8.00 o'clock in the evening. How can this be?

I doubt he was expected to walk 2 miles home. He went out to play with friends at 6pm as was expected to be back by 8pm. Where he and his friends got to in that time is how he ended up 2 miles from home.
It probably got to 8.30pm and beginning to get dark beforehis parents began to worry and ring round to see if he was at a friend's house, and only after lack of success phoning the Old Bill.
I'd had said thatwould be fairly normal, if it was for a boy of 11 plus....7...Not so much....

At that time of night; parents should be strung up.

What a horrendous thing for a family member to say. You should have fucking stopped him going in there then. Clearly trying to absolve herself and the family of blame.

Steriliziation is not harsh at all - unless you consider stifling the chosen career path of the feckless as such

I am sure young Conley will be replaced at the next in season opportunity by Skye, Chardonnay or Merlin and uite possibly of a different complexion

Clearly they have no common sense, but sterilization seems a bit harsh. Oddly the law is really not enforced regarding curfews. (If there is one) for young children. If parents aren't prepated to set them curfews and set them sensibly then it should be treated as child neglect. The devil will be in the detail but, I don't think many would disagree that letting a 7 yr old walk 2 miles home at 8pm is neglectful.

We all used to get up to mischief when we were younger, but mostly we'd play football over the park until dusk. But we never went near the railway lines or building sites or electricity stations. It's probably watching those public information films that scared the life out of us. No doubt they are banned now because they are not PC.

This poor kid should not have been on his own on a building site, I blame the parents.

Albeit, but for the grace of God there went us and our mates when we were kids but that was a long time ago i guess, and we had great parents - really did although they observed a strict street light rule that we all complied with

No, that's a different story but these types of council estate families are uneducated and a lot them should be sterilised or at least have set rules imposed upon them.
